Getting Started: My WordPress.org Account

I’m officially starting my WPCredits journey, and I’ve chosen to contribute to the Photos team of the WordPress open source project. WordPress maintains a free photo directory with images released under a CC0 license, meaning anyone — designers, developers, bloggers — can use them without restrictions or attribution. I liked the idea of contributing something visual and permanent to a project used by millions of websites.

Before uploading anything, the first requirement was creating an account at wordpress.org — which is different from my wordpress.com account, where this blog lives. I registered at wordpress.org/support/register using my real name, since it will appear publicly next to my approved photos.

Once I confirmed my email, I could see my public profile at profiles.wordpress.org, which will collect all my future contributions and badges. That’s where the evidence above comes from.

Next step: reviewing my photos against the directory’s technical requirements, and starting to submit them.
